BLANCHARD ELEMENTARY

Mrs. Erin Bergeret's Physical Education

Through the Physical Education program at Blanchard Elementary, the students are given the opportunity to become efficient movers and gain the knowledge to make healthy choices now and in the future.  To accomplish this, a curriculum is provided which includes health related fitness, motor skill development, rhythmic activities, sequential gymnastics, and skills related to sports and leisure.  Through the many group activities and games provided, the students learn valuable lessons in cooperation and teamwork.  The curriculum also includes general safety, nutrition, and beginning wellness concepts.

Students are able to participate in the American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart  program and Walk for Education.  They are also given many opportunities to be physically active during the school day by walking or jogging a half mile at recess and participating in Team Time before school starts.  Fourth and Fifth grade students will participate in Fall and Spring Fitness testing.  The Fitnessgram is a comprehensive health related fitness test designed to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

As a former Blanchard eagle, it is so wonderful to be teaching at the school that gave me so many great memories.  I have a Bachelor of Science in All-Level Physical Education from the University of Southern Mississippi.  I have been a Physical Education teacher since 2001
